Epic Flooding In Texas

5-29-15: Climate Change, a Factor in Texas Floods, Largely Ignored

"Climate change is taking a toll on Texas, and the devastating floods that have killed at least 15 people and left 12 others missing across the state are some of the best evidence yet of that phenomenon, state climatologist John Nielsen-Gammon said in an interview Wednesday.

"We have observed an increase of heavy rain events, at least in the South-Central United States, including Texas," said Nielsen-Gammon, who was appointed by former Gov. George W. Bush in 2000. "And it's consistent with what we would expect from climate change."

Even their own state climatologist has stated the reality. Yet again we still are not seeing this connection presented on news/weather forecasts. Climate change is being all but ignored. I recently tweeted Ginger Zee, the Chief Meteorologist for the ABC network asking why neither climate change nor Arctic amplification were being tied into this. Her response? She only has 15 seconds to do a report. Then I was told I was angry and judgmental for daring to respond that I thought that was a copout of a response. I mean, really- that is not a legitimate reason when lives are on the line. But then, we also know what runs the American media. Sad that we now see people who care being relegated to being angry and haters. I guess I should have told her I liked her dress.

Deadly Flooding in Texas Latest Example of Extreme Weather

With at least a dozen people dead and the raging high waters described as having “tsunami-type power” in Texas over the Memorial Day weekend, the latest example of extreme weather in the U.S. is being tied to a global pattern of increasingly volatile events that are claiming lives and costing billions of dollars in damage each year.

“So far in 2015—as in preceding years—weather-related disasters have destroyed or disrupted millions of lives and livelihoods,” said WMO Secretary-General Michel Jarraud ahead of the meeting. Citing devastating events like Cyclone Pam in Vanuatu, major droughts in India, California, and Brazil, and the kind of flooding that recently struck Chile and now being seen in Texas, Jarraud said the “list of extreme events is long and there is growing scientific evidence that at least some of them would have been unlikely without human-induced climate change.”

Governor Says Deadly Flooding Worst Ever Seen In Texas Area

When did you ever hear of a flood advisory in Houston? Answer: never. This is now happening at the same time as a deadly heat-wave kills hundreds in India, abnormal heat bakes Alaska, severe drought continues in California, Brazil, etc. with Arctic melting continuing to interfere with jet stream configuration.

Last year at this time I was posting about the severe epic flooding in Bosnia and and the record breaking Midwest flooding. Here we are again.

This is very tragic. This is happening globally more frequently, severely as well as faster because of the continued amplification of the atmosphere because we don't seem to understand yet even now how our behaviors are pushing this. It is very tragic- however it was also predicted this would happen in regard to climate yet their so called political leaders soaked in oil money didn't feel the need to prepare for the effects of climate change or even care about funding agencies to help people in disasters... and the people now suffering in Texas more than likely voted for them which is also a tragedy.

So in this case and in every other case from California which has a Governor as well who cares more for the fracking companies in a severe drought already tied to climate change effects than putting humanity before profit the failure is on the part of both political parties in this country. They have all now allowed climate amplification to get to the point where we will see more casualties here because of their apathy, greed and political hatred and they need to be called out on it.

I have posted here numerous times about Arctic amplification and the effect it is having on the jet stream. Reports on this flooding state clearly that a jet stream configuration staying in place is causing this. Yet, not ONE WORD on any weather report mentioning those two words.

I wish I knew what to say without sounding like a broken record or felt that I could blow sunshine up everyone's butt without feeling guilty about it- but there simply is no other way of articulating it. We are dealing with a crisis of humanity we have not seen before by our own hand and we refuse on the whole to see this... You know what that means whether you want to admit it or not.

Sorry to the people of these areas now dealing with their losses- but for those there who defer to the Bible and continue to push the reality away defer then to the saying, "what you sow so shall you reap" and think about what it is now doing to God's creation. Would Jesus be driving an SUV and supporting the very companies polluting and destroying this planet? Or would he be walking amongst us and speaking to us about being good stewards?
